MAJOR UPDATE

I know this is not news to most of you, but since I last posted I have had major changes happen in my life. After nearly six years of living and working in Atlanta I decided it was time for a change. A big change. So I got a new job and moved to New York.

Many of you know that one of my lifelong dreams has been to live in New York. I always knew I would make it here eventually, but I just didn’t know when. Turns out August 2010 was finally the time when the stars would align and everything would fall into place. All of the wheels started moving quickly in July, and before I knew it, it was a done deal.

I started my new job last week. I’m still working in public relations but have left the agency world and have taken an in-house PR position with a major luxury tile and stone company. Right now I’m busy at work trying to learn everything I can about stone, and let me tell you there is a lot to know. I’m beginning to think that a geology degree may have been helpful to get. Limestone, marble, granite, slate…and the list goes on. Do you like your stone with a polished or honed finish? Or perhaps you’re more of an angulated finish kind of person? See what I mean?

On the personal front, my life is in total chaos. Luckily it should be calming down soon, though. I’m currently semi-homeless. Without going into a long explanation, I decided that it would be easiest to come to New York and find an apartment once I got here. So I’ve been living with my wonderful friends Sara and Jake, who have been kind enough to let me crash at their place for a couple of weeks. After this upcoming weekend, I am then going to my friend Jenny’s apartment for one last week before I move into my own place. Thank God! This living out of a suitcase thing is terrible.

Now that I have a so many new things happening, I hope to update this site frequently. (Like when I first started it.) My next post will be about my apartment search in New York, which surprisingly wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought it would be. Stay tuned!

  1. So how will you contain your addiction to Crumbs cupcakes now that you are living in NYC? I guess all the walking will help maintain your figure as long as you don't eat TOO many cupcakes each week. ;)
